The land transport sector stands as the third largest contributor to carbon emissions, trailing only the energy and industry sectors. Moving people and goods at ever increasingly volumes is energy intensive.

Given the rising demand for public transportation to enhance connectivity, it is crucial to embrace sustainable solutions in the design and construction of our infrastructure and innovate towards low carbon operations. The session will delve into the various sustainable efforts implemented in the planning, design, construction, and operation of our land transport system.

About the Speaker

Dr Tan is the Deputy Director of the Civil and Structures division in LTA, bringing over two decades of research and industrial experience in the built environment, with a specific focus on underground infrastructures.

Her passion for sustainable construction is evident in her keen interest in design and construction materials. She firmly believes that sustainable construction necessitates intentional commitment from all stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle. Her approach involves pushing the boundaries beyond the norm, leveraging innovation, and sound engineering principles.

Dr Tan’s dedication to deliver sustainable and value-driven projects has been recognized through the Ministry of Transport Value for Money Awards. Her endeavors have led to the successful implementation of six different initiatives that received this esteemed accolade, serving as a testament to her unwavering commitment to excellence in sustainable infrastructure development.
