IES plays a central role in the development of engineering talent in Singapore, with strong representation among faculty members at the nation’s leading engineering institutions. A major milestone in IES’s history came in June 2006, when the Engineering Accreditation Board (EAB) achieved full signatory status in the Washington Accord (WA). Singapore became the first ASEAN nation to receive this honour, empowering IES to represent Singapore in the mutual recognition framework of the WA and to ensure the continuous quality of engineering education systems worldwide.

To further elevate the profession, IES has introduced several key initiatives, including the Chartered Engineering Registry, the World Engineers Summit, and National Engineers Day.
