Shape The Future Through Engineering

Taxis that fly, 3D-printed hearts and windows that generate solar power - innovations that could only previously be imagined are now within our grasp. It’s an exciting time to be an engineer!

Find out all about how you can shape the future through engineering at the National Engineers Day (NED) 2019. Organised by The Institution of Engineers, Singapore (IES), the 10th edition of this annual event promises to be a big festival of everything engineering.

Riding on the success of the signature Energy Innovation Challenge, IES together with Science Centre Singapore will organise the Engineering Innovation Challenge (EIC) at NED this year, to cover a wider scope of engineering topics and to showcase more cutting-edge technology. It will allow local and international student teams to engage in a battle of wits to develop solutions in response to the focus: Radiation is Everywhere.

Students can also choose from an exciting line-up of talks and workshops to discover the wonders of engineering, ingenuity of engineers and expanding career opportunities in engineering. Get ready for an exhilarating engineering adventure at every turn!

On behalf of the NED 2019 organising committee, I would like to thank all our partners for contributing to NED. Your support will open the eyes and minds of our younger generation to the endless possibilities in engineering.

Whether you are a student, parent or teacher, we warmly welcome you to join us at Devan Nair Institute for Employment and Employability (e2i) from 18 July to 20 July 2019 to not just wait for, but build, an exciting future through engineering.

See you at NED 2019!

About NED

Organised by The Institution of Engineers, Singapore (IES), the National Engineers Day (NED) is an annual event that aims to celebrate the achievements of engineers, inspire young engineers and intrigue students in engineering.

Since initiating NED in 2010, IES has partnered with tertiary institutions, government agencies, engineering organisations and industry experts, to grow it into one of the biggest engineering events for students in Singapore.

Every NED offers a series of fun and enriching activities including workshops, talks and exhibitions covering diverse and engineering topics. Audiences will get to see the ingenuity of engineers and know the myriad of possibilities of an engineering career.

Returning for its 10th consecutive year, NED 2019 seeks to encourage students to create better lives for Singaporeans by becoming engineers, under the theme of "Shape the Future through Engineering".

NED 2019 will also host the inaugural Engineering Innovation Challenge (EIC), a nation-wide competition previously known as the Engery Innovation Challenge. Jointly organised by IES and Science Centre Singapore and supported by the Ministry of Education, EIC 2019 will provide local and International students opportunities to devise innovation solutions to the topics "Radiation is Everywhere" under the guidance of industry mentors.
